Default Engine data froom Yamaha 150 4-Stroke to Raymarine A57D...please help

I have a new Raymarine A57D which has SeaTalk. I would like to get the engine data from my Yamaha 150 HP 4-stroke to the A57 display. From what I understand, I will need this cable...

This will go from the Yamaha motors' command link connector (white & blue wires) to a NMEA 2000 termination. I then need to go NMEA2000 to seatalk and further create the backbone with power, terminations, and spurs. My main question is, Is this the best way to come off the motor? Has anyone done this or something similar? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have the command link gauges? When was your engine manufactured?

Joe,
Thanks for the quick reply! I do not have the command link gauges however I do have the command link connection in the motor (it's the white capped plug with a white and blue wire). My motor is a 2007 model (manufactured in 2006). From what Yamaha says, I'm NMEA 2000 capable.

Give Raymarine a call and they will be able to answer any questions that you may have.

not the SEATALK line, it's the SEATALK NG line---they're different.

read below...

Hewesfisher,
Thanks for the link...I should've been more clear...I know it's Seatalk NG and have just about got the whole network laid out and parts ordered through my port supply rep. I mainly want to get in contact with someone who has come off a Yamaha to a Seatalk NG network to verify that I have found the best (maybe only) way to do this.

Thanks for the help y'all!

No problem. I don't see any issues with that Maertron cable. The only issue I can think of would be wether or not you either will or will not need a powered tee fitting on the backbone. I would bet that you would not. The 12v prob comes from the "key on" ignition feed--through the Maertron cable...As long as the network is put together with term resisters are the ends, you should be good.

Did you just call the dealer you linked above? They seem to have an excellent tutorial and would prob know exctly what you need. Seatalk NG has been around a while. It's all the same from Raymarine plotter to Raymarine plotter. See below..

Maybe someone else will chime in to confirm....

Just a thought. If you already have the Yamaha gauges with all their info, why would you put the info on you FF/CP? The data would take up at least half the screen and would make it hard to use the unit as a combo plotter/ff. I am not trying to find fault, I just don't see the need to display engine info on a 5.7" unit unless it is not the only unit you are using for the CP/FF functions. BEst also check the cost of doing that before you get too far.
