Default Airmar B60 tilted element install in inboard boat

Just read Airmar install instructions. For an inboard boat install application instructions say to mount well ahead of prop and shaft. My boat is a 22 chris craft tournament fish inboard. My raw water pick up is on port side. I need to mount tranducer on stbd side well clear of raw water engine pickup interference. Would 8 plus inches perpendicular on stbd side from pickup be enough clearance from turbulence for transducer install? Also I have room to install on stbd side aft also. This location would be in a nice clean area from turbulence but would be about 6 plus inches perpendicular from the stainless 1.25in prop shaft. Would the shaft spinning cause any interference? this location would be alot better area for install( ie. ease of drilling and away from transmission shaft coupling) Thanks for any info or ideas .I want to cover my bases before drilling.

The aft location should be fine unless there is something else forward of your chosen spot (hull strakes for example).

The objective is to have undisturbed water flowing over the face of the transducer -- no air bubbles, turbulence, etc, that would change the acoustic properties and mess up the signal transmission.

The proximity to the spinning shaft should not be a problem, though remember that the stuffing box area where the shaft comes through the hull will disturb the water a bit so if you can be a tiny bit forward of that it would be good.

My in-hull transducer is sitting between two 330 hp Diesels less than a foot away on each side and works perfectly despite the rather large amount of spinning metal and a bunch of electronic engine controls.
