Lost depth reading

I just put a new Garmin 240 on my boat and when I get above 25 mph I loose the depth reading. Has anyone had this problem? Thanks for the heip. Terry

, excuse me but I just have to chuckle a bit. Look down the page a little bit and maybe do a search on Transducer or Depth Finder and you will be barraged with so much information that pertains to loosing bottom at speed that you could make a liftime's hobby out of studying it.

To make it short its your transducer mounting.

I am glad I made you chuckle a little ! To make it short its my transducer mounting, that sure solved all my problems. Thanks for all your help. I will be sure and use the search button before I ask for help on this forum again.

No problem, always willing to help.

Go do the search, read the posts, learn a little bit about mounting transducers. If you want to go ahead and read the article I wrote about mounting methods and things to look out for to make one work properly .... or don't, no skin off my ass either way.

I will say this though, and you can think about it any way you like. As a person who probably types at least 20 or 30 pages of responses a week, on this and other message boards, some days a guy really doesn't feel a lot like answering the same old questions over and over again for someone who is to dam lazy to type in two or three words in the search feature and then see what has already been said about the subject.

As a green horn to this and all other forums I may not remember about the search feature. I know you add alot to this forum and I am sorry for my response. I just felt like you were making fun of me. Again I am sorry, my comment was un called for.

I used my 240 blue for the first time this weekend and was real happy with it, I never lost bottom once. I followed the mounting instructions very carefully, although my dead rise was right between weather to use the spacer or not, I elected not to.

I have went threw the instruction sheet now several times. From what I have read it should be working ok. I have installed them on boats I owned in the past and never had a problem like this. I have read the things that Thom has written and appreciate all you guys help. I have adjusted the angle of the trasducer and will take the boat out for a test run in the next couple of days. I will keep trying until I figure it out. Garmin makes a great product so I know the problem is on my end.
