Default Can it be? Another battery switch question.

Yes it can be and here it is.

The other day I accidentally left my battery switch on (I have a single outboard with two batteries). It was in the "one" position and I didn't leave any of the electronics on, just the radio with the volume all the way down.

Anyway when I came back a couple of days later BOTH batteries were dead?. Wouldn't leaving the switch on "one" and not "both" protect me from that. Did someone goof in the original wiring job? Should I start tearing stuff apart and rewiring?

JPBass1,

Last year, I accidentally left my switch on "1" and killed the battery, the #1 battery. In my case, I drained only one battery, not both. Sounds like you should check the wiring for the switch and both batteries. Regarding, your #2 battery, is it possible that it was in a severe state of discharge prior to the event? If not, the wiring is suspect....

Today, I installed a charger, XPS 5/5 from Bass Pro Shops, to charge both of my batteries when not in use. Dead batteries are no longer, unless I really screw up!

I would definitely look at the wiring.
