Default Best low end Fish Finder

I am looking for a decent shallow water depth finder for a Jon boat I just bought, I do not really need color, but temp would be nice. I notice some have better resolution than others. So any ideas?

Furuno 4100 or the 6100 has a larger screen with the same specs.

I have a 18 year old Hummingbird on my flats boat and works great. never needed a repair to it. The modle # has rubbed off so I cant give that to you. I think I paid $100 for it back then.

A recent magazine test reported that the Furuno 4100 and 6100s had the best screen resolution for their price range.

The test you are referring to must be several years old, Lowrance and Eagle have had 480x480 resolution for their 5" monochrome fishfinders for years.

My recomendation for a good low cost fishfinder for shallow awters would be Eagle Fishmark 480 or the Lowrance counterpart X-125. These Eagle and Lowrance units are sold complete with a 200kHz transom mount transducer very well suited for shallow water.

For deeper waters (>100-150') the dual frequency models Seafinder 480DF and X-126DF would be better.
