Default Electronics advice

Hello. I am brand new to this forum and seek advice from you experienced fishermen. I recently purchased a used 2001 27 open contender with the following electronics; Furuno 1850 GPS chartplotter, Furuno 600 fishfinder, Simrad radar( don't know much more than that; suspect 2kw 18"dome), satellite and uhf radios. All except radar are flush mounted in dash. Radar monitor sits on top of console which I find in the way of line of vision when not being used. The charplotter was broken, and repair by Furuno will be $1300 if I want to go ahead. My question is do I repair the old, try to find a used Furuno 1850 in good shape( if anybody knows of one, I would be interested)or take this opportunity to upgrade and to what. I am considering a combo radar/GPS plotter since this radar monitor isn't in great shape and would love to get it off the console and put a 12" combo unit in the dash( if I have the space). I am trying to decide between Furuno, Raymarine, or Garmin. I am told Furuno has better radar, but Garmin has better charplotters. My budget is fairly flexible, but I don't want to unnecessarily overspend. We mainly do inshore fishing off new jersey for the fab four( blues, stripers, weaks, and flounder). We go out whenever we can, day or night. People have told me that my Furuno FF is a good unit and should keep it. Thanks in advance.

Welcome! There are a lot of active threads right now both in this forum and the Boating Forum dealing with this. I'll leave the upgrade advice to the others who I'm sure will help out, but I do have one thing to say. I would not under any circumstances spend $1300, or even a fraction of that, to repair that Furuno 1850. There are far better chartplotters today, many of which sell for around that amount or less.
