E series has Platinum support, nmea 2000 support (though a logistical pain), external video inputs, and a brighter screen with a better video accelerator (hence full platinum support), plus you can share components/charts across multiple E-series via their ethernet protocol (called Seatalk HS).

If you are looking for a single display, The C series is the ticket. It will do about anything that the E will do except for the video features. Screen brightness is excellent and visibility in direct sunlight is great as well. The E aand C both use the same add ons like FF etc but the E will use the new HD radar and the C uses the older analog radar which is excellent. This should change this year with software updates, etc. The C also will use the platinum chip but not give you the photo functions. Truthfully, I use the Gold chart and I find that it is just fine. They will both do CP, FF, Radar, and Weather. The E series allows you to network and share data and video with up to 10 displays. Cost of the C display is about a grand less than the same sized E. I have used both and both work exactly the same as far as menu, key strokes, etc. Hope this helps

Before you buy, price the peripheral add-ons for each unit, then decide.

It seems the E series add-ons are more money, the add-ons I'm talking about are the fishfinder, radar, satellite receiver modules.

The C-Series can't use HD radar and Super-HD, the domes will also come in a HD version later this year.

Finsup,

I'm not sure what you mean about add-ons costing more for an E. The E and the C both use the DSM300, same price for each. They can both use the same analog radar antennas with the same cost. They both can use the same AIS 250, and the same autopilots.

The only different part right now is the weather receiver. The E uses the SR100, and the C uses the SR50.

Also, the C can't use the new digital radar antennas.

Hey last month I picked up a E120 for $3200.00... That was a package deal at west marine and yes it was new in the box.

Included everthing execept the transducer... I did alot of searching and spent alot of time finding this deal... The deal was not in the catalog. only in store...

I hope this helps the C 120 cost more in the store... Good luck
