Good point MrPat, however the Hot Spots Fishing chip does not rely solely on charts to provide fishing spots, but more importantly a lot of the marks come from retired captains, guides etc. They are proven spots that Anglers actually catch fish at consistently.
This is one of several reasons why we do not try to compete with products like Navionics, C-map etc. The ocean contours constantly change and surveys have to be redone and updated. These huge companies have the resources to undergo such large scale projects. We like to think of it this way; by combining a cartography chip such as Navionics or Nauticpath and a Hot Spots Fishing Chip, the Angler has the best of both worlds. You can learn about the contours, ledges and such, but also have proven fishing spots in a given area. These two resources combined can provide some insight as to why fish may be holding in a particular area.
After all, if we could think like a Fish, maybe we would understand why and where they would be all the time - LOL
We advise our customers to be aware that nothing in the ocean both inshore and offshore is completely stationary, and sometimes you do have to look a bit for a wreck, hole, ledge etc.
Sometimes; more often than not, we are only as strong or successful as our resources allow us to be. With the technology we have now (GPS's and color fish finders etc) we are way ahead of what we had to work with 10-15 years ago.
