Default Raymarine E120

Transducer help... I just put a raymarine e120 on my boat. I have been told that I will get the best performance from the 1000 wt transducer. I want to purchase the one that has the best results... Please give me a model number... And your thoughts

Also how much should I pay someone to install the thru hull transducer... I attempt most projects but not when it comes to drilling a hole in the bottom of my boat. Should I be nervous whith this form of instalation? Please help

Do you want to run a thru hull? Or do you want a shoot thru hull? What type of boat?

I have a run a tilted element on my old 2400 Vector with a C80 and I run a Airmar P79 on my current boat with an E80 and E120 and can keep bottom at 58 MPH. I have been really happy with the P79. When I first purchased the boat I thought for sure I would change it out, but really no need to.

OK, what kind of fishing do you do? Does the Triton have a solid glass bottom, or is is cored?

Generally, it's not the watts that's key. It's the number of elements in the transducer that gives you great bottom detail. The better transducers with multi-elements are also 1KW or more transducers. You may want the Airmar M260 if the triton is a solid glass bottom. It's a shoot through transducer, so it won't work with cored bottoms. Check out Airmar's web site. http://www.airmartechnology.com/airm...wn.asp?Type=FF

MrPat, I had an M260 installed in my cored(McKee) hull. It just takes special effort to cut thru the inside glass thru the core to get solid glass. A pro did mine and he has done quite a few. FYI.

I understand that coed hulls can be cut and filled to accept the transducer, but this is not something you want to DIY. If I were having a pro do glass work, I'd have him glass in the B260.
