The "d" means it is equipped with a differential beacon receiver to get corrections for the GPS. That unit uses the older ground based differential signals instead of the satellite based system used now ("WAAS&quot. The 951XD is easy to distinguish because it will have two antennas. The XD version has greater position accuracy normally.

And all the 941/951/952's have just "X" suffix on the front of the case. The serial # on the back should have a "D" at the end if differential correction capability was originally installed at the factory (and/or 'W" for WAAS) , but "differential" can be added externally via a special antenna/receiver .

Normal (undithered by now-off Selective Availability) & un-corrected GPS position accuracy supposedly averages < 15 meters ( around 49') . Differential-corrected GPS position accuracy should average within 3 meters (<~9.8') .

Awesome...thanks for that! Correct me if I am wrong:
951x=OK accuracy
951xd=Better accuracy
951xw=Best accuracy

Yup, plus (952 like mine))XDW will still provide corrections if one of DGPS or WAAS is not being rec'd. for any reason. In most cases that is a bit of overkill. "XW" is the best value IMO.

Thanks for all the info. I have a fella trying to pawn off a 951x with two different types of antennas along with 3 charts of S. Carolina $ Florida. I would buy them only to re-sell them. Not sure if its worth even messing with?
