Default Raymarine C80 MARPA problem

I have a C80 with the latest 4.29 software and have a MARPA issue.

When I track a vessel, the direction vector for the tracked vessel uses a North Heading reference, even when the display is in the Heading up mode. This means the vectors only point in the correct direction when I am heading North. (Very confusing at first). I output the MARPA data to a PC running Coastal Explorer, and the vectors display correctly there, so the radar is calculating the vessel direction properly. I sent an email to Raymarine, and the tech said he had no way to recreate the problem in his lab, and that was that. Has anyone else seen this problem, is there a setting I have wrong?

Is your unit a V4.29 build or an upgrade? Had this problem with my E120/E120 network after V4.29 upgrade. Also was displaying bogus target speed. The fix for me was a "master reset".
Hold down the left-most soft key while powering-up. Let the unit go thru its count-down & start-up & that was it.

Second thought, as sandyda asked, you need to have heading input to your display..........

I have a Raymarine S2G autopilot feeding NMEA 0183 fast heading data to the C80 via an actisense multiplexer, since I have an AIS receiver and the C80 baud rate is set to 38.4K. I have a Garmin GPS and send position data to the C80 as NMEA data too. (No Seatalk GPS). I upgraded the software to 4.29, the C80 is almost 2 years old, and I don't remember what version it came with. I will try a master reset, does that mean I lose all my settings?

Thanks for your help.

Can't speak to the other issues, but the master reset does cause you to lose all settings. BE SURE you have your waypoints backed up!

Yes, be sure you BACK-UP your WAYPOINTS prior to a master reset. Note all of your preset preferences since they will be lost.

You cannot simultaneously support 38400 BAUD AIS & 4800 BAUD NMEA 0183 with the C or E series displays so that may be your problem (you can do it on a network with two or more displays). RM has an interface--model E85001--which I think will allow you to this.

I have an Actisense NDC-4 NMEA multiplexer that does baud rate conversion. The C80 is set to 38.4K baud. I dont think its related to the compass, or any NMEA issue, the MARPA tracking icons are in the correct place, and move correctly, its just the MARPA tracked target direction vectors that point in the wrong direction.

Smart Radio did a really brilliant thing when they designed their SR161 and SR162 series receivers to merge the lower baud rate from any GPS into their AIS data stream. I believe RM does that now too...not sure, though.
