Default Raytheon RL760 networking question

I recently purchased a boat with a Raytheon L760 (HSB2 Plus) GPS/Depth sounder installed on it. I am considering keeping the unit if I can network in a used GPS or some other display in which I can separate the depth sounder and GPS screens. I am also considering something that I can add radar to at a later date.

Which color units can I interface with? I noticed most of the items have a C, RC or CRC included in the model number, does that correspond to C (color), RC (monochrome raychart or gps function) and CRC (color raychart).

Could I connect my existing L760CRC to a L760C, RL80C, RL70C and display the GPS on that unit, or does the added unit need to be a CRC unit to display GPS information? For example, If I purchase a L760C can I only use the display for depth sounder info (70C or 80C radar only. with no pgs data..)?

I am very unfamiliar with these electronics, so I want to be able to make a somewhat informed decision on what I need to do.

Thanks in advance,

Jeremy

It has to be a HSB2 (i.e. "+") unit. General rule of thumb is that it has to say RayMarine instead of Raytheon. Once bussed via HSB2 and connected to the same SeaTalk network, as long as both displays are on, you could swap any of the three functions (sounder, chart, and radar) between either display.

To use the HSB2 networking, you need a unit with the "plus" in the name. That will allow you to show graphics from the fishfinder on your GPS display.

If you only want to share data, like course, speed, position, depth, etc...., any of those displays will work using the seatalk connection.

Note - it has been my experience that the HSB2 is very unreliable. I personally own two displays that work fine except for the HSB2. I would use caution buying a used unit thinking I was going to have that feature. Getting the units fixed by Raymarine is very expensive.

Would you recommend purchasing a unit that can function as both a GPS and radar (RL70CRC) and use as a standalone unit (if HSB is unreliable)?
