Default Raymarine A60 experiences -- if you have them, good or bad -- please comment...

I've looked at many other options, Garmin, Lowrance, etc., but for my fishfinder and basic Nav needs, I'm strongly leaning towards the A60 now. Coming in at 475 after rebate, it's a tough deal to beat since the Navionics card is included as well. Again, my requirements are pretty basic -- 3 ft. away vs. 30 ft. away on GPS (non WAAS) is not going to ruin my day. With that said, I've seen many have purchased this unit in recent months. Do you like it? Dislike it? Am I completely overlooking another good low cost option that's out there?

Any feedback, good or bad, is greatly appreciated. I'd like to get something ordered this week. Thanks

Recommend you use the search feature. Lot's of comments pro and con.

The new A Series seem to be a great improvement.

I've searched plenty. Just looking for real-world, current commentary from recent purchasers who took advantage of this pricing, rather than "this unit is crap vs. my $4k Furuno or $2k Garmin and updates can take 4 seconds." It's a bargain buy, I know... Sometimes a bargain is worth it, others it's money foolishly spent that should have gone towards something better. I've read all the tech reviews. The one at Continous Wave was very thorough.

Love my A65 for what it does, but IMHO I would have spent a little more for the C70 or C80 series and had more capability and a stronger sonar. Also ability to add radar if needed. The new replacement A series seems better since it will have weather capability. Mine has read bottom at 1600 ft on a drift. The chart plotter is very easy to read and use and the fishfinder performs ok.
