Default 26 Foot Twin Vee with M260 ducer

Thinking of getting the Furno 585 with M260 ducer on a 26 foot Twin Vee...Questions: 1) Does anyone have this setup currently on TV and how does it work??? 2) If only fishing in less than 500 feet is this over kill...3) Would the Furno 620 with less a ducer do as good a job??? Just want to get it right the first time...want to stay around 2K...thanks, John

I am not that familiar with the Twin Vee. I have a Glacier Bay and just installed a 585 with the B164 0 degree 1Kw ducer and am very pleased with the results. It did require drilling a 3.75" hole through the bottom of the hull and also needed in excess of 5.5" of space in the hull to accommodate the nut that holds it in place. In my case, the bottom of my sponsons are flat at the rear of the boat and I was able to locate the ducer in the furthest aft compartment next to the transom. It barely fit in there and I did need to move my bilge pump to a bracket in that compartment but the effort was well worth the results. I can hold bottom at 27+MPH in over 500' of water. The boat originally had a FCV600 with a transom mount transducer. The transom mount ducer was a problem as it hung below the bottom of the hull and would interfere with the trailer bunks. The ducer that I had was a folding type mount but it still broke the bracket on it. When I did the upgrade, I decided that a through hull was the right way to go.

Hope that helps.

Hello, I just bought an '05 26' Extreme Twin Vee and my plan is to go with a Garmin 4210 display GPS/chartplotter a GSD-22 digital black box sounder and the 1KW B164 tilted element 12 degree transducer similar to the other poster. I called Twin Vee today to check on the transducer fit given the slight curve on the sponson and they said it was not a problem. I was told they had done it before with no issues. Cutting the hole is not a big deal. Seal the edges with epoxy and seal the transducer as directed. I had the 600w version of that tranducer in a little 17 Mako I pulled behind the Bertam and it worked great. I would suggest you call Twin Vee they are great. good luck

I have not installed it yet. The folks at Twin Vee told me to put it in the starboard sponson just inboard and forward of the bilge pump mount.

That's where I was planning to put the M260...I've got to do some measuring to see just how big that box (M260) ducer is...decisions, decisions??? I've got the winter to decide...thanks, John
