Hi, I am on my way of taking delivery of my 2009 Wellcraft 290 coastal with 300 Verado's in Impact REd
I am buying the Audio System for the Boat this is my option at the moment any suggestions pls.
3 X JL Audio M770-CCS-CG-WH 7.7" Component Speakers
1 Pair for the HELM
1 Pair for the Cockpit
1 Pair for the Hard Top
1 X JL Audio M10iB5-CG-WH 10" Marine Subwoofer (DONT know if I SHOUL add a PAIR)
It would be placed near the cockpit
1 X JL Audio M6450 6-channel Class-AB System Marine Amplifier
Will Be used for the 3 Pairs of Component Speakers
1 X JL Audio M1400 Monoblock Class-D Marine Subwoofer Amplifier
Will Be used for the 10 Inch Subwoofer
I am almost sure the Head Unit that will come with the boat will be the CDM5 ( Which i Think i should keep any suggestions)
For the Cabin I will keep the Factory Installed clarion speakers.
I dont know if i should replace the CDM5 radio with a Aquatic AV Radio with DVD player that could also be hooked up to the GARMIN 5012 Screens.
I know the boat well - one sub will be fine...ipod interface & head unit mounted in cabin and wired remote on the dash along with bass volume knob for the monoblock sub....the co ax's will work as well as the components in that small space....
formula5181 - 10/20/2008 7:40 PM I like this Setup a lot, any body with a 290 where is the FACTORY SUBWOOFER INSTALLED
Using yoursecond picture as a reference -the factory location is under the seat near the fire extinguisher pointed towards the entry way to the cabin. There's a fairly large area there and plenty of room behind it for a 10" possibly even a 12" sub.
Speaking of the fire extinguisher, isn't there a storage compartment on the drivers side under and on the exterior side of theseat? Or is that the second extinguisher in the picture?
Hey Jim, Thanks again, is MILL36 from Verado Club, we talked a while back regarding the ACR setup, , regarding the pictures they are not mine there from another boat but this is what i have in mind, my boat is on the Ship it will arrive Panama on Friday so i am not so familiar with the extinguisher setup but since you have the boat also i think is the way you say.
Do you Have the JL installed in your boat or what are you using.
i would only install the 6 channel amp. the sub amp would be a waste since you will only be running it at 4 ohms.
use channel 1 and 2 on the 6 channel amp for both your helm and hardtop speakers, run the cockpit off of channels 3 and 4, and bridge the sub to channels 5 and 6. the difference in power is so little that you wont notice it.
the only thing you will lose, is the ability to adjust the output of the hardtop and helm speaker independently. other than that, it will be much easier to wire a single amp, and it will draw less current than the 2 amplifier setup.
the only reason i would keep the sub amp, is if you planned on adding a 2nd subwoofer later on.
the M1400, or the newer M1700 is too powerful for one sub and is only useful at 2 ohms. 1 sub = 4 ohms. You could either do like Duct Tape said or just change from a M1400 to the M2150. The old model numbers are M1400 and M2150, the newer ones are M1700 and M2250.
Do you think it would be good to use a 4 Channel amp for all the Speakers outside and another 4 channel amp for the Sub and te Cabin speakers or just wire everything to the 6 channel amp an wire the the cabin speakers to the radio.
