Re: new microwave? Be sure that the input power (not the output or cooking power) is within the power rating of your inverter. Also make sure the inverter will fit in the space provided.
Now - On my old boat, the microwave worked just fine on a "modified sine wave" (the less expensive) inverter. On my new boat, the microwave sometimes does not. It will start cooking, you can hear a change in the noise, and it just spins until the time is up.
How can you tell if the microwave you plan to buy will work on your inverter? I don't think you can. I plan to buy one from a store where it's easily returned (let's say Walmart) and if it doesn't work correctly, take it back and try a different brand. The one that doesn't work right is a Kenmore, but it's a 1999 model and who knows who made it or how they have changed in eight or nine years. |
