I am currently testing a GPS tracking device that can track my boat at all times, and transmit information to a web site. I can see exactly where my boat has been right from my computer. It will show me speed, location and direction. The device will also send me a text message to my cell phone if someone starts my boat without permission. the device can also track engine hours and alert me for scheduled maintenance. I know when my bilge pumps kick on, or if my batteries are low. I can even kill the ignition for the boat right from my computer. Its amazing what this thing can do. Has anyone seen anything like this?? Very cool technology.
Sounds very cool! I need one of these for my 11 yr old son!!
That is definately a good device for a boat stored in the marina. Almost like a lojack combined with onStar. Who makes it? Is it cellular based?
ive installed the paradox model. i just heard today that a boat down in florida using that system was recently recovered after being stolen. and the recovery led to a $10 million drug bust.
Thats awsome! This unit does not have the off shore ability that paradox has, due to the cellular application, but it will store all the data, and transmit when cell coverage is restored.
nice... I've been looking into something like it, but not that complete...
The Dewalt mobilelock... it also uses GPS and cellular...

I dont really know at this point what the cost is. I do know that for the automobile application, it retails for $995, including install and the first year of service. Each year therafter, the service is $160 per year, unlimited pings.
I have been using the SeaKey system for about 2 years now. It works great. I am not sure of the initial price of the unit as it came on the boat from Hydra Sports. I do pay $19.95 per month for the service and it does everything mentioned above (except turn off the ignition). I know it has a battery backup and even if they cut power it still transmits. I pulled the batteries out one day and about three minutes after I disconnected them I received a call telling me the unit had reported a "No Voltage" alarm. I was surprised at how quick they called.
The unit operates off the satellite system and is usable anywhere. I know they have a newer unit out that works off Both Satellite and Cellular but am not sure of the cost. Mine seems to work very well. I keep forgetting to turn off the Geofence and they always call me to tell me they have a "Stolen Boat alarm". I verify my password and apologize for not calling, but it is nice to know if my boat moves I will know about it.
If they ever call me to tell me the boat is outside of the Geofence and I am close by. I will tell them to stay on the line and keep me aware of Exactly where it is. No Cops Needed (they just complicate things anyway). If I am out of town I will let them handle it.

Battery on the Dewalt will only last you 20 days or so unless you hardwire it. The Dewalt system is also very expensive on a 'ping' basis.
Yeahh I actually hardwired it.. and bougth 50 pins just in case the boat got stolen and I have to track it. For the use I'll give it is good enough. They give you 5 pings a months that roll over if you do not use them. So in my case I'll be acruing 5 pings every month.
I didn't know about this system that we are talking about on this thread, but 995 device +160 a year!!! dam thats really good!!!
The thing I like about the Dewalt is the vibration sensor (with sensitivity level selector)and the door sensor... I so not know if this system has it....
The other thing I liked it (same as this system) is that works with gps AND cellular
I called West Marine today and while I was on hold their recording mentioned a special on a GPS tracking device for boats on special for somthing like $149 including a years free service.. I am going off my recolection so I may be slightly off, but in hindsight, I'm kind of curious..
We have been using a similar setup for 6 years now on our construction machinery. Allready recovered 3 bobcat skid loaders with 2 arrested, well worth every penny. Not completly safe as 1 bobcat was loaded into 18 wheeler trailer and lost signal, figure its working hard in Mexico now.
im just guessing that you are spamming with a product you have an inside interest with......anyone can go on ebay and find similar units just by typing GPS tracking. After sifting through, there are plenty of units for reasonable prices. Guys like you are trying to make a buck....and that is ok. But it should be done the right way, and being deceptive like you are being right now is NOT the right way.
