How are the waypoints named on the chip? Are they easily filtered or sorted? I am using a Humminbird 1197c SI.

In looking at the Garmin products it list over 990 Hot Spots for NC. My Garmin 4212 only holds 1000 way points. What happens then when it meets it's limit?. I already have 800 way points.

Thumbs up Hot Spots Fishing Chip

Thanks for the questions. First, the waypoints are usually named by the species of fish you would normally catch on that spot followed by a number to make it unique. An example would be KfGp27, which would indicate King fish, grouper and the number 27 to make the waypoint unique. Additionally, artificial reefs are named ART followed by a number, and so on with wrecks being WRK#
Now this naming convention does not always hold true, as far as the species go, because some spots are known by us to be productive, but we have not named the spot by the species yet.

The question on what happens when you already have 800 waypoints on your unit and you want to load a chip with several hundred more spots and your unit limit would be 1000?
This is a very good question! First and foremost we always recommend that you backup your waypoints onto a removable chip for safe keeping. Please do this regularly to avoid losing them. Secondly, if you have only a couple hundred waypoints free on your unit before reaching capacity, then when you go to load the chip, it will USUALLY only load the spots from the chip to the unit until it reaches the limit of the unit. I have not seen it ever overwrite the waypoints already in the gps units memory. The ONLY exception to this is on the Furuno models (including the NavNet 3D)
when you load any waypoint chip into the Furuno, it overwrites the current waypoint file stored on the unit. There may be exceptions to this, but this is what we have found. We actually have a video coming out that shows this on a Furuno 12" MFD unit.

If you guys want to see how easy it is to load our Hot Spots Fishing Chip into various gps models go to the site and look for the link "how to videos"
or click on http://www.bestgpsspots.com/videos.htm?tht

Thanks very much for your continued support !

Can I edit the waypoints on your chip? I already have the AR's and the local #'s plus many more. This way I can install only what i want.

I went on the site, I don't see a Northeast or New England chip. Do you have any plans on making one?

Does this chip list spots for inshore species such as trout and redfish?

Hi Guys, thanks for all the good questions!
First, Yes each of our Hot Spots Fishing Chip areas covered include both Inshore and Offshore Fishing Spots. Depending on the native fish of the area, the inshore spots generally have trout and redfish etc.

On that note, we plan to come out with the Inshore Extreme and Offshore Extreme Fishing Chip as early as January. These two different chips will be centered on that particular type of fishing as the name indicates.
The plan is to have a slightly larger coverage area for each of the specialties, in other words, the Inshore Extreme chip would cover a larger area from North to south or east to west along the coastline. The Offshore Extreme Fishing Chip is planned to cover only Offshore fishing spots in a larger area.

If any of you have any suggestions for these new chips coming out, we would love to hear your feedback.

Now for those of you that don't find a specific product in our listing.
Since there are 10 brands or more Marine Gps manufacturers and hundreds of models, its not that easy to display a product for each. So if you are ever interested in one of our Hot Spots Fishing Chips and do not see it listed in our store, by all means, please contact us and ask if it is available. We also get many requests for custom chips that cover from one place to another that may cross our listed set boundaries. We will usually program a custom chip for those of you having that need.

We do plan to continue our fishing spots coverage up the east coast into New England etc. Currently as of today, we go to North Carolina, and New Jersey. We have requests for New York, long island and Mass as well. Sometimes we are in the finishing steps while working on one of these areas, and don't get it listed when about done. So again, if you are in one of those areas, please contact us and we will see what we can do for you. Thanks for all the great questions.

While we usually offer discounts for THT and other forum members, the BEST way to stay in the loop and get the best discount is to be on our newsletter list. Just hit the " contact us" page and ask to be added to that list. Those members get the best pricing available, besides previous customers.

Happy Holiday's to all, may we all remember the real reason for this season. Merry Christmas !

Got my chip the other day. Lots of spots. Many are artificial reefs and spots on public charts, but there are also a bunch that I've never seen. I can't wait to get out and check them out. Unfortunately we currently have 10 foot seas (crazy high for Tampa Bay and the Gulf) so it will be a while before I can try them out. Best of all, most of the spots I didn't have are offshore where I love to fish.

In the Tampa Bay area, if you don't have ALL the public spots locked in, you need this card. Not only does it give you the middle of artificial reefs, it gives you the various groupings of rock piles or debris that make up the entire reef that may be quite far from the published numbers.

It is well worth the money unless you are a guide that lives on the water and know all the numbers.

Also, for those of you asking about editing the spots, I used EasyGPS (free software) to edit the numbers very easily. Offshore numbers, wrecks and various inshore numbers can be split anyway you want.

SportAngler,

What about Hot Spots for Midwest Mississippi/Missouri River confluence (St. Louis)...specifically for catfish and walleye on the river(s)?

I'm interested in the south east central florida chip and have contacted hot spots for the discount code.

My primary use will be in the Stuart area; a mix of inshore fishing with occasional runs offshore chasing dolphin and the like when seas are reasonably comfortable on my 18 Whaler Outrage.
