Default Garmin 4212 & KVH 1000 nmea setting & check?

I am networking two Garmin plotters. A 4208 & 4212. With a GMR10, 4KW HD Radar, GSD 22. I can't get the Autocomp to indicate a heading. I noticed that there is no provision, (nmea HDG) in Garmin's NMEA acceptable protocol list. Does that mean the customer only gets a bearing line? What to do to check for proper opperation?

Also, using a dampening setting 4.5? (whire/brown to ground?) Or let Garmin sort it out?

NMEA 1 input to Garmin? Anything special to ground?

Man, this things kicking my azz.

Bluewaterpirate,..............help!

Thanks Roisland!

Funny, do you ever remember seeing the led on the KVH light up? Seems funny to have to "listen to it" to know if it starts up....
