I was working with a 4212 unit last week and wondered why I couldn't get the navigational chart overlayed with the new HD Radar video painted atop it. I also tried on a 3210 last month....to no avail.
I was thinking that maybe it could if I had a heading sensor, but didn't get that impression when I walked through all the menu options.....
I looked at the manual again and found the page where it talks about it. Maybe i hit a wrong button. It says it does do it, Im glad I revisited the issue. Page 42 in the manual.. OOps.
Select Charts, then "Radar Overlay". Do not display a Nav Chart, then try turning on Radar Overlay, as you would do on a Raymarine unit. In the Garmin, you just select the Nav Chart called "Radar Overlay" which is of course, a nav chart with radar overlayed. I should translate for the Chineese!!!
You know: "Red button = Push this button to activate the function of the red button."
Yep, took me a few minutes to figure this one out too. But at the end of the day, the Garmin menu's are 1000 times easier to operate. Especially with the touchscreen.
