Default Simrad AP 26

My autopilot will not hold the course I am on when I hit the "Auto" button. I noticed my rudder was set at about 23 degrees off to one side, would this cause the autopilot not to hold the specific course when I hit the "Auto" button?

yes if the rudders are straight when the display says 23 degrees port or star. check your rudder reference sensor, it may have come loose

How would the rudder sensor have come loose? What would I look at to check it.....is it just a bracket or a few screws?

in the lazerette where the rudders connect to the steering there should be a sensor attached with a adjustable rod the sensor is round with an arm coming off of it, does the rudder position on the display move when you turn the wheel? if not ceck that the rod is still connecting the sensor to the rudder arm.
