When I was having my boat rigged the mechanic left a pull cord so I could pull more wires or replace wires in the future. I know he called it something other than a pull cord, for some reason I think he called it something starting with an "s". I have been racking my brain to think of what he called it but can't come up with the name. Can any of you help me out. I must have too much time on my hands to fret over somehting like this. I guess I have a little too much OCD.
Do yourself a favor... now that there are wires and a fish tape in the chase, next time you pull something through there make sure that you use plenty of this stuff. There is no telling how the fish tape is interleaved between wires.
Yes, I do use the Ideal pulling compound. It really makes a difference when pulling wires thorugh the T-Top supports. Yep, I have heard the term used snake the wires, but this is what the cord that is left in the tubes is referred to. Thanks all for the replies.
Electricians usually (SHOULD) leave a string every time the install conduits... You are suposed to use the string to pull a rope and then pull the electric cables with the rope......

A snake is a metal or fiberglass tape that can be pushed through a conduit or other area so wires can be pulled back. "Fish Tape" is another term for "Snake".

People in different parts of the country or different organizations will call it different things. "Pull string" is what we called it. It's not really important unless you call it a name that means something else.
In the electrical trade, a messenger wire is a strong wire (steel and non current carrying) used to support the current or signal carrying wires between two points such as a pole and a building.
