Garmin chart for british columbia missing detail

I have a garmin 178C with BlueChart maps. I fish a lot off the west coast of Vancouver Island. There is a particular lat/long that when I zoom in to less than 2 miles, the contour lines on the bottom disappear and the section of the chart goes white. I can see the contour line heading into the particular chart section but as it reaches that boundary the line disappears.
Has anyone else had this problem and if so, is there a solution. Garmin tech support says it's just the way it is with that particular area - they blame it on the Canadian cartographer.

I think they are blaming the cartographer who provided the data for that part of Canada. Garmin doesn't make charts. And no one should blame Canada for anything but [insert comedian.]

I notice sometimes in the redraw the new area contour lines show up, but then when the map is finished redrawing, those lines are not there...Garmin mentioned that if you had Canadian charts loaded along with US, that covered the same areas. Sometimes shutting off one or the other might help. Mined is an old 182c...
