System Details:
Clarion CMD5 Source Unit with iPod Interface
JL M6450 powering (6) JL 7.7 Coax
JLM1400 powering (2) JL 10.5 Subwoofers
Installation Notes:
1. My original plan was to mount a pair of 7.7’s in the bow, at the helm, and in aft area near the cockpit door. Hydra Sports has change the cockpit design aft (more rod holders) and speakers can no longer be mounted anywhere.
2. Hydra Sport has black plastic tubes that run through the side wall where the helm speakers go. The middle tube must be removed (and that rod holder rendered inoperative) in order to install
any speakers opposite the helm seat.
3. The amps fit very nicely on the aft wall inside the console directly above the dash board access panel. The 50 amp breakers for each amp are installed directly below each amp.
Knowing that the aft speakers could not be installed, I would have ordered four coaxes with the JL M6300 and saved myself $500, but once I had the equipment it was too much trouble to return/swap, so we shoehorned it all in.
The installation was done by Gordon and Tony at Eagle Marine in Sagamore Beach, Massachusetts and the equipment was all supplied by Southwest Florida Navigation. Total cost for both was around $3,500.
