Default what type of electric outlets at stern ?

looking to put a pair of outlets at the stern of the boat to be used for electric reels ( for deep drop fishing), and possibly for electric downriggers...

is there a universal type of outlet or is there a specific one i need to ask the installer to put in?

i told him i was going to use these for electric reels and he asked for the model #... but there's several different types of electric reels ( e.g., electramate, daiwa, krystal) and i'm not sure which one i'm going with yet.. i was just hoping there was a universal outlet like a marinco outlet or something

Your on the right track. The marinco 15 amp outlets are commonly used.

My downrigger (Scotty) came with the female plug end that gets wired to 12v- suspect electric reels are the same.

If you go to www.precisionautoreels,com and click on wiring accessories , they sell the Hubbell 15 amp plugs that we use on the headboat I work on. I think the Marinco products are easier to find , but cant comment on the quality , as I have never used them.

I have fished on a boat that has had all 3. [electramate, daiwa, krystal]

By far my Daiwa 1000 is the Cats A$$ compared to the others. That's not just me saying that. It's the othere gys.

But I don't plug mine into the boat as I have it totally self contained. No I don't use the $400 8ah battery pack that Daiwa sells. To big and to bulky.

I do have a custom 8ah battery that straps right to the rod. No cables to get wound up in and I can take it on any boat.

Mine is the Proto type. I can run the reel for 2 days fishing on one charge.

Contact me if you would be interested in one of these battery setups. The connector and wiring is 10ga wire with a 2pin flat plug.

This setup still weighs less than a Electramate. The Daiwa 1000 will dead lift 25lbs. 30lbs will pop the internal CB.

I know that doesn't seem like much at first, but this is off the side of the boat on the ground. Not in the water where buoyancy comes into effect.
