Random Quote: The gel coat cracked because it was put on to thick..thats all
i'm having sililiar issues. i have installed a LMF-400, three EP60R's and a LGC-3000. everything was working. all devices were recognized. i unconfigued the stbd Ep and then poof, it was gone. i have swapped tee's and cables. cannot get teh stbd back. the 400 still recognizes the other devices. i have emailed Lowrance but nothing yet. i also failed the loopback test. what is this? does it mean anything? guidance would be appreciated.
I spoke to tech support today ( Canada ) They spoke to US they said have not heard of this problem. Told him about this site. Dismissed this site. Long story short. New unit on the way.
Are the sensors failing or is it the unit? I sent my unit back but did not send the sensors as I would have redone 3 fuel lines and what are the chances three sensors were bad.......
I'm thinking about taking a chance on the oposite. I have only one sensor. I have to send the stuff abroad for replacement and it's easier (and not more expensive) to just buy a new sensor.
What I understood from ddpiper's testing was that the old EP-60 made the new one invisible, butthe new oneworked when configured for adifferent engine.
If the the unconfigure/reset-process can break or lock up one sensor, I would assume that it can do the same to all 3 sensors at once. I'm not sure, i'm just thinking.
Have anyone tried to update the sensor firmware? I read somewhere that the EP-firmware can be upgraded using a compatible chart plotter with memory card slot.
I just bought a complete LMF200 kit with ep60r and have not yet installed. I have been reading this thread and now have some worries that it may not just be plug and play. Why do you have to un-configure it after it has found the 60r? I have not read the manual yet!
You don't. I hooked mine up and it work great first time. My mistake is that I decided to read the manual front to back and try all of the commands so that I would be familiar with them. One of the commands was system reset. So I did and that's when it died. Lowrance claims to who of no problem. A new sensing unit is on the way. I'm thinking that this is not the fix. If you consider how plug and play works. The sensor is a dumb device. It simply has a chip that communicates to the smart device in my case the LMF400 that says I am a EP60 fuel flow sensor. The LMF400 then knows what to do with the sensor. I am going to change engine configuration this weekend to a two engine boat and try to assign my fuel flow sensor to the new configuration. If this works then the problem is in the LMF400. My theory being that by hitting reset the LM400 in firmware disabled the single engine fuel flow sensor configuration and therefore won't go looking for one even when you tell it to. In my business I have seen stranger things.
I just read the manual, and it appears that I will not have to un-configure as I only have 1 tank and 1 engine. Hopefully I dont have the drama's some of you are having.
Is the factory calibration accurate or will I have to recalibrate? If so can I do that by pouring 10 gallons of water through the sensor?
Not happy
Went to boat did a hard reset and changed boat config to single engine 2 tanks did a Bus Device search found nothing. I guess I wait until my new unit shows up. But I'm still thinking I'm going to have a hole in my dash next week.
i just wish i could keep mine working replaced the wires out of the motors new tees at motors new tees in console, i hook puter up to motors set trim and get everthing working, hit the water and with in 2 hours it starts flasing, just the screen the little blocks flashing lines and my e-series has nada period, i done this 5 times so iam going to take it back to dealer and tell them to fix it it tired of it for what i paid for the gauge, dont know what else to do anyone with awnsers iam all ears.??????
My replacement EP60 came today. Guess what it is different then my old unit. Manual different ( Better ) the tee has been completely redesigned. Going to give it a try today. I'll let you know.
i called Lorance a couple of days ago. i was on hold for over 30 minutes and was cut off as soon as the tech came on the line. called back, another 40 minutes on hold. he said my EP60R must have "gone bad" just when i unconfigued it, right. anyway, i have sent it back and a new one should be on the way. finally get the boat in the water this coming weekend. i'll check out the remaining two Ep's and see how the system works.
