Default Garmin GFS 10 Fuel Sensor

From my understanding this Fuel Sensor is new. Does anybody have one yet. If so, how accurate is the fuel sensor. Any comments welcome.

I was told by my local West Marine that it would not be avail until April 25, when Garmin releases their new toys.

Once you have it installed and tested, please come back on here and give us a report.
Thanks, Owen

Are you interfacing to a Garmin plotter?

Yes, a 545s. I also had to purchase the CAN Kit in order to be able to interface them. http://www.tigergps.com/garmincankit.html

Why did you need the Can kit? I thought they were plug and play with the 400 and 500 series?

Anyone have a link on the units? How would you set up twins directly into a 4212?

The CANet Kit is not included with the GFS10. It only includes a short harness that converts from the NMEA 2000 connector to the CANet compatible wire set. I had called Garmin several times to clarify this. The CANet Kit includes the terminator and connectors you need to wire them both together. They said I have to use at least one foot of wire from the CANet kit for this to work properly. To answer csvencer, the GFS10 is not directly compatible with the 545s because the GFS10 is NMEA 2000, but the 545s is not NMEA 2000 compatible. It can only communicate with it through CANet.

What does the ends of the NMEA2000 to CANet Adapter Cable look like?

Is it a NMEA 2000 connector to bare wires on the other ends?

Can you post a picture of what is included with the sensor?

Are the CANet terminators just some 120 ohm resistors?

Any way you could use a ohm meter to see?

Thanks for any help on this.

The NMEA2000 to CANet Adapter Cable is about one foot long. It is a NMEA 2000 connector on one end, and bare wires on the other end.
The CAN Kit terminators read 117ohms on my ohm meter.

Here is what comes with the GFS10: http://picasaweb.google.com/wwill54/...40526794749682

I found out that the CANet terminators are just 120 ohm resistors. No need to buy the whole kit. I will use some cabling I have and make my own harness.

As soon as you get it running can you post some screen shots on the display?
