My battery has been dying in an hour, garmin replaced it, it died again after an hour. Today I called and they said they are working on a firmware upgrade and it is a known problem, so if anyone owns it and is having the same problem they are working "feverishly on a fix"

Have you done all the software update for your unit? I've gotone that will run for about six hours on the battery.

Yes, I have the latest FW, this has to do with build date and component changes

I have one for about a year now and so far am very happy with it, except for the power chord which keeps breaking but Garmin keeps replacing. I don't know how to perform an update. Is there a special cable needed to link it to the computer and if so where might I obtain one? Thanks in advance.

There should have been a mini usb connector cable that came with your unit. You plug the mini usb plug into the XM Antenna slot on the back of the unit and the female usb connetor into your computer. You can download the drivers and Web Updater software from the Garmin site.

Thanks ....... keep the faith they will fix the issue. I wonder if they changed where they were manufacturing these units? Mine is two years old.
