The GFS 10 fuel sensor is NMEA 2000 and Garmin CANet compliant, so any device talking Garmin CANet or NMEA 2000 should work with the GFS 10. The GFS 10 includes a fuel flow sensor and a fuel level sensor in a single package.

Default RE: the new garmin GFS 10 fuel sensor

I called garmin today because I noticed only the 4000 & 5000 series are listed as compatible. The first time I called they agreed with the last posting. I called again because I noticed that it said that the unit had to be a multi functional display. The 500 and 400 series are not MFD's and the second service tech said that the 545 in not compatible.

So to answer my own post the 545 in not compatible with these new sensors coming out. If any body knows any different let me know

sounds good. do have the link to that marking memo? All the ones I have looked at indicate it has to be a MFD or the new GMI 10

There are two issues here, first the device must have Grmin CANet OR NMEA 2000 connectivity, and also the device must have fuel management software capabilities. The GMI 10 and the 4xxx, 5xxx series of devices do have both connectivity and fuel management software.

It will be interesting to see how many older Garmin devices get software updates adding fuel management capabilities.

Thank you for the info. I was debating ether to put in a floscan or this new gfs 10. I think I will wait until the garmin device comes outs to compare the two. It seems to early for garmins tech support they have given conflicting information on both occasions I called. it makes sense that the GFS 10 can connect to the 545 and if it has the software already then there should be no problem. thanks again

Matt
