Hi, I am very new here at the forum, but I have hit a brick wall with this issue, and don't know where to turn. I have read through the forum looking for this answer, but it seems to go either way. I had some techinical questions about the Lowrance LMF-400 and seeing PGNs on the network from other sources and how it is set up.
I have the PGN 1F200, or Rapid Engine update, that is being broadcasted onto the network which contains the RPM's of my engine, but the LMF-400 won't display them. Is there a further setup screen to go into? Should the RPM node be seen when I do a Bus Search? Should the PGN be present when the LMF is turned on, or can it start broadcasting at a different time?
The screen on the LMF-400 continues to blink ----- in the RPM field, so I beleive it isn't even seeing the data. usually a solid ---- will mean that the data is being transmitted, but not available, as in the case with the Fuel flow sensor sending the "Alt Voltage", since the fuel flow sensor sends the dynamic updating engine PGN.
Do any of the technical guru's out there can help, I would appreciate it.
Well, regardless of anything else, it should show up on a bus scan. If it doesn't, you have to fix that first. (If an item doesn't show up on a bus scan, its impossible to use since the lmf can't see it)
Second, you *always* have to tell the LMF-400 what input to use for pretty much everything. It has to work this way so you can have multiple types of inputs.
I was just reading the quote from a previous thread below and it says that the engines were not seen using the bus scan, but all information was being displayed on the screen. Further reading told me that the LMF will only show nodes that are configurable with the Lowrance net system.
I'm very confused. I'm going to do some further reading on it. I haven't called Lowrance on it because with other companies, I usually get more general information that technical.
Thanks for the quick reply!

Okay, any help here would be appreciated. I have (1)LMF-400, (2) engine interfaces(twin E-Tecs), and (1) EP-50. I'm trying to reassign the Serial #'s of the Interfaces as stated above because I'm assuming both engines are programmed as Port, beings I only get Port info at the gauge. Now the problem is that when I go to Bus Devices and hit enter, the only thing that shows up is Storage Device. So, I'll assume again that the gauge does not recognize the Interfaces(or engines), but I get all the info from the engines displayed when using the gauge. How do I reassign if I can't find what I'm trying to reassign?
I did find info for one thing in the NMEA Info window(address, instance, ser.#,nmea ver.), and the gauge comes up in the System Info window, both these windows in the System Setup Menu. Is this a case of old software or what? Thanks
Sorry about this, but it won't let me edit my post after so many minutes.
I didn't make myself clear in the last post. From my reading, during a bus scan, the LMF will only show nodes that are configurable by the LMF. So maybe it won't actually show the other nodes in the system.
Does anyone use an engine interface with their LMF? Does it show up on the bus scan screen?
I use a Lowrance engine interface with a Suzi 115. It is the older one for an 07 engine. EP-20 I think, can't remeber the number for sure now. It shows on the bus scan. All my engine data displays on the LMF 400 including RPM and fuel burn rates. That, with the GPS on the network, allows MPG info to display. I have no idea what PGN's are transmitting. If the engine is not on, or the key turned on, the engine interface does not show on the BUS network. At least that is the way I remember it. I have already winterized so I am unable to verify for you.
OK I got it working. The signal is not showing up on the bus, but then I'm not using the interface to the engine, the PGN is just on the bus. Thanks for yalls help. I couldn't have done it without what I have learned on this forum. I was a little too quick to post mostly because I was frustrated.
