Handheld GPS with USB output

What is the best handheld GPS currently available that puts out NMEA0183 data strings via a USB cable to a stand alone laptop running Maxsea. I am finding it very hard to sort out which units which will do this as opposed to just sending out 'static' data via USB for route planning and the like.

Price (within reasonable limits) immaterial.

Effectively ALL basically output NMEA, forget the specific USB GPS bit and simply use a USB to serial adapter on the laptop, which will basically then support every NMEA0183 unit.

I have a Garmin magnetic mount/USB (I think it was an automotive unit) that I've used with MaxSea and Offshore Navigator.It is similar to the Garmin GPS 16 (look on the OEM site).
