Have any of you with the 168 noticed after changing pages that the previous page now shadows the next page. What I am expieriencing is a "ghost" in my screen and the unit is one week old. Is this normal?
The "ghost" you see could be normal this time of year, but if it does not go away after tomorrow night I would put in a call to Garmins stellar service department.
How do you like the sounder. Since space and price were my two objectives I failed to find out the sonar is only 150 watts rms! Kind of suspect coming from a company as great as garmin. Well its mounted now and the 188 is out of budget for now. Guess I can take it back to boaters world and exchange it since the screen is possesed. Thanks!
Hey high life, happy Halloween! Sorry, just having a little fun with that earlier post. On a more serious note, if you are having problems with your Garmin, give them a call.
Mad hunt, please excuse me. Me a little slow! Yeah, spoke to people at boaters world and they said they would be glad to exchange it being 2 weeks old. Do any of you actualy use the 168 as to fish with? If so how deep do you use it? I am worried that this machine is not going to cut it in the fishing dept. Thanks for the responses!
I've had a 168 for a couple years now and been happy with the unit. I've had no problems with the ff function in depths to 120 ft. The only problem I've had is the cable connector on back of the unit. There seems to be a couple factors there: 1) The female knurled connector on the cable doesn't always seem to connect solidly. 2) The female connectors are prone to corrode. I've always made it a point to spray them with either electrical contact cleaner or WD-40 each time I remove the unit and again before connecting it.
I hope this helps. Overall, I've been very pleased with the unit.
