Default Raymarine ST 40

Has anybody used the Raymarine ST 40 compass as a heading sensor for radar chart overlay and marpa on C or E series systems with radar? If so is it ok?

not fast enough, need 5hz or 10hz via NMEA, ST40 is SeaTalk only, and not gyro stabilzed. cheapest good heading sensor is going to be the KVH Autocomp 1000

I'll sell you a slightly used one for $750 including shipping

Seriously, they are less than $400 here. Shipping cannot be that much

Got mine from BOE (board vendor)

Have you looked at the RayMarine Smart heading sensor? they are normally more than the KVH, but it won't hurt to check.
