Default theft of elec off trailered boats

How are your installed electrtic components protected when you trailer your boat and have to park it overnight or leave it at a marina.

I was wondering the same thing. I assume you could take your fish locator/depth finder off if it unplugs easily, but what about other electronics.

Always a tough question...I only stay at motel/hotels with the boat in sight of my room. Keep stuff covered... outa sight, outa mind. Back the rig in where possible. Pay a little more attention to where your staying...high traffic area is better. Know the phone number of the police...so they can be called quickly. Sleep in the boat with a Glock? Using starboard I flushed mounted my GPS(2006C) but made the flush mount plate removable in about 15 seconds. I accomplished this by notching the upper left hand corner of the starboard flush mount and making a corresponding groove on the inside of the electronics box. The other end has a stainless steel buckle. So to install I attach cable, slide GPS/flush mount plate into it's slot and snap buckle. I have some pictures if your interested.

I was going to use a Navpod to mount a Lowrance l15mt on my new boat - anyone have any experience w/ these? My buddy prchased one - it wouldn't fit his bass boat and has offered it to me for about 30 bucks less than what he paid for it - its brand new and is the one I'll need for that particular Lowrance - but it doesn't appear that you can take the unit off once its mounted.

I mounted everything so that it could be removed quickly and easily (by me, not the thieves ). So whenever I leave the boat parked anywhere unattended, I bring the radar, chartplotter & sounder displays with me. I mounted the VHF just inside the cabin door, so it can be locked up, along with the stereo. I never trust my factory electronics box lock. I suppose I could install a much better lock myself, but have neve really found the need.

Double locked aluminum electronics box mounted under a hardtop. It would be easier to steal the whole boat than my fishfinder.

I take my GPS and fishfinder off my boat and in the room with me. Not worried about my VHF or el cheapo radio.
