Lowrance 525DF c issue

The other day when I went to start the unit it would not show any map detail with the card inserted. So I took the card out and put in back in.The unit locked up and would not do any thing but show a white screen. I had to unplug the power to turn it off. I did that several times before I finally got it to work. I have not touched it since but need to change to a different card soon.
Has anyone heard of this before or is this a common issue? Thanks for any input

When the unit boots, it will read the card and look for a software update. If the card could not be read, it wouldn't surprise me that the unit won't boot. It can be hard to program past hung hardware if a read fails. Also, what can happen is
the unit is programmed to retry so many times, but the hardware failure makes each try take a long time. Eventually,
the unit might give up and boot. Really depends on the programming.
