useful gadget: ancor mini-torch

I bought one of these because I was getting frustrated that I couldn't complete some electrical work I was dong on the boat - no power, no batteries, cold as hell....

Anyway, I picked up one of these and have been using it to heat shrink connector ends. You have to be careful not to scorch the tubing, but it actually does a respectable job. I'm happy with it.

I also finally bought one of those expensive ancor ratcheting crimping tools. Wow, what a difference.

The only thing you need to be careful of is that is is an open flame - I've ignited the liquid electrical tape that squeezes out, but it's no big deal, it blows out quickly.


Just fyi.... But if anyone else has handy gadgets, I'd love to hear about them......
