Default Lowrance 3500c Dull colors. Help.

While using my GPS (lowrance 3500c) for this first time this season I noticed the screen wasnt too colorful. The land and sea wasnt much of a difference. It seems the colors are faded. This unit is not known for vibrant colors but last year the water displayed light blue and land was light beige. NOw its faded to the point where its hard to tell which is land or water. But the red and green buoys and other colors are fine. I tried every setting I can think of.

Two strange things I noticed-
1- When I remove the Navionics gold chip the colors get much better(not perfect but much better). The unit is 1 year old and not used more then 20 hours.
2- While navigating in my canal the GPS shows me as riding over land(about 100ft off). It only does this at this one location. All other places its dead on.

Any ideas?

I too am disappointed with the colors. I keep mine on night view and the contrast is better. Then at night I hit the pwr button to darken. I have Nauticpath. I have not figured out how get the course to display. I have it overlaid but the reading is _ _ _º crs. Iv'e read the book but obviously I'm missing it. Any ideas?
thanks

Go to lowrance website and downlaod the simulator for your gps unit. I learned many things by playing with it during free time.
Im not sure what you mean by "not getting the course to display". I am assuming you mean your current position and heading on a map display. If so, hit exit a few times then hit pages to deisred view. I think.

Thanks,
John

You can change contrast and brightness. This may be all that you need to do.

I didn't want to display it as those pages do but it gave me another idea to overlay"Track". That's what I was looking for. Something to duplicate my compass heading.
thanks

For the course to display: When you go to the overlay data screen, click on gps data and it should be under that drop down menu. I kept thinking it would be under navigation but it's under gps data. I think you probably have "course to steer" selected so unless you have a "go to" activated it won't give you a course to steer.

Exactly. I kept ignoring TRACK because I think that's my TRAIL behind me. Just a terminology difference from my last plotter.
