Default Furuno 1623 to Garmin 188C NMEA

Sorry if this question has been asked and answered in the past but I've searched the threads and can't find this posted. I just installed a Furuno 1623 Radar and want to interface it to a Garmin 188C using the 7-pin cable. The Furuno manual is useless. What is the correct wiring (by color) to connect the two units?

furuno yellow to garmin blue
furuno green to garmin black (this is the same wire that garmin uses for the ground connection for power)

be sure to turn on the nmea port in the garmin setup menu.

This might sound like a dumb question but does that mean, because the Garmin Black wire is connected to the negative buss, that I just wire the Green Furuno wire to the negative buss? Otherwise, when I disconnect the Garmin Black wire, the Garmin doesn't work (not grounded).

BTW, I first tried wiring it the way Furuno told me, it didn't work. The way Duct Tape described it is the correct way.

that is correct, you can just wire it to the negative buss, so long as its common with the black wire on the garmin it doesnt really make a difference.

and of course i'm right
