Garmin 3210C and GMR 40 Radar

Seems to be working pretty good just a question, does the radar always stay on / warmed up? I remember from my previous Furuno manuals that (1622 MKII) that the radar had a 500 hr transmitter life. So hopefully you guys can see where I am going with this.

Is the Garmin the same way? Such that if the radar transmitter is warmed up all the time though not in spinning usage am I just wasting radar life? Is there a way to turn it off so it isn't warmed up when not needed to be in use?

It is warmed up once you turn on the system and wait 60 (90?) seconds -once that happens it is always ready but not spinning...
