Default Garmin 376C to Yamaha fuel management connections

Well,
You guys have seen threads like this before, and I've searched and read, but still can't make it work.

here is what I've got.
The yamaha gauge has a nmea + and nmea - ( red and white )
The wiring harnes on the garmin has:
blue = port 1 nema out
yellow = port 1 nema in
black = ground

I have set the garmin interface to nmea in/nmea out

I have tried the following, but none of it worked.

garmin blue to yamaha red
garmin black to yamaha white

garmin blue to yamaha white
garmin black to yamaha red.

garmin blue to yamaha red
garmin yellow to yamaha white

garmin blue to yamaha white
garmin yellow to yamaha red.

none of these seems to work.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Chesbay,
I see no one jumped in.
I hooked up my Yamaha FM to my Raymarine so it's not the same but one thing is for sure,

the Yamaha NMEA white + will go to the Garmin NEMA out blue.
Yamaha red - to Garmin NEMA black.

You already set the Garmin interface to NMEA out/in so the only thing left is to set the dip switch on the Yamaha to GPS vs speed from the pickup tube.

Should work

First of I want to say that I am refering to the Yamah SPEED/FUEL METER purchased latly. The instruction for the Yamaha FUEL MANAGEMENT stand alone are not the same.

A Dip Switch is also called a Selector Switch. It has to be set to the up position for the speed to be read from the GPS

It is switch #5 on the back of the SPEED/FUEL METER. To get to it the rubber plug needs to be removed.

I was just looking at my notes, The "White" wire from the SPEED/FUEL METER has tobe connectedto GPS NMEA + Out. On the Raymarine unit this happens to be the yellow wire per the Raymarine diagram. If it is blue on the Garmine diagram then that's what it is.

Baja,
Thanks, I've tried all of that.

I just got off the phone with garmin, and after reviewing what I had done they suggested that I change the precision of the lat lon message from xx.xxxx to xx.xx I'll try that next.

Thanks for the input and I'll keep everyone posted.

Chesbay, I hope you'll get it figured out, those things can be frustrating. Good you got through to Garmin they should be able to give you the correct scoop. Just out of curiosity do you have the new combination Fuel/Speed or the older just Fuel gage?

Baja,
It was the dip switch settings.

I put it in late in the evening and used the picture as a guide.

I incorrectly assumed the the number from the diagram were from right to left. They are actually left to right.

Works now.

Thanks.

Glad it worked out. The recommendation from Garmin didn't sound very promising.
