Lightning fast chart redraw rate, fastest on the market. Choosing screens are made very simple with button setup below screen, as is configuration of split screen data. Easy to use, easily expandable through the network sounder and radar options. Negatives are that if you don't have a Merc or Cummins, the Smartcraft tech is worthless. No fuel monitoring for non Brunswick setups, and there have been some issues with the chart card reader crapping out, but it looks like Northstar has gotten that under control. Other than that, it's a great unit.

Thanks, my concern is for reliability, I have heard some things about Northstar being prone to repairs?
i have Merc engines so the Smartcraft is a nice feature.

I don't know about the 6100i, but the 6000i was terrible- they fogged like crazy. If the card reader slot is still open to the units interior, keep looking. Smrad just bought them, so there's no telling what happens next.

The new 6100 will have no issues with fogging as the 10, 12 and 14 inch displays are all bonded LCD's and cannot fog as the LCD is stuck to the glass. (no air gap)

I had the 6.4 and it was always fogged. i finally figured out that if you leave the cover off it doesn't fog up.
Other than that it was a great unit.

However the previous 957 that I had was a piece of SH!^.
Had to have the screen replaced at a tune of $600.00. And the unit was just over a year old. The sounder never worked and you would have to turn the machine on and off several times for it to boot....
