Default Garmin 3210C and GMR 41 Radar install help

This is the first time I have let someone else install marine electronics on a boat...

I went by to see the completed job and the Radar unit is mounted with a slight cant (as it should be) directly to the T-top. The GPS Receiver is also mounted directly to the T-top right next to the radar on the starboard side approximately 18 inches or soaway. Will this be ok?

The Garmin manual says to install the GPS Receiver below or above the radar unit. To me this does not seem to be the case. These folks install a lot of these units and I haven't argued with them yet that the Radar needs to be raised up, but I want to know if I need to or do you guys think this ok what has been done.

More detail....The GPS Receiver is on a threaded stand that does not have any raise to it. The Garmin unit like I said is directly on the T-top except for the 1/2 and 3/4 starboard "stands" that are used to give it a slight tilt forward.

In the past I have always installed the radar on a 6 inch or great base to raise it up.

Thanks,

TM

the gps antenna has to be higher or lower than the radome - otherwise they can get fried...accoding to my sources...I'd keep em low and rasie the dome - neat and clean that way with no poles waving around...

The cheap easy fix would be a six inch extension pole for the GPS antenna. The better over all fix would be a 6 inch power tower for the radar............15 bucks vs. 300 bucks????? The radar higher would be slightly better performance wise as well......

That's what I thought. Thanks, I will be raising up the radar.

you will fry your gps antenna, i have mine flush mounted on top of the console, or you can get a pedistal with the attachment to raise the gps antenna
