Garmin gps map 180---upgrade?

I have this model chartplotter and I like it. Is there any way to upgrade the cartography for more detailed contours and deapth readings as well as updated buoys and aids to navigation? Otherwise it is a Black and white unit. I have the special Lake erie western basin cartridge but want to know if any other companies put out cartridges that fit it? Thanks Paul

the cartography is only as good as the maps that are available to Garmin...In our area, a chart upgrade is somewhat useless since the buoys all have moved since the charts were made. I doubt that the investment in a more recent chart will help you much. At best the latest Garmin chart will be the same as the latest US Survey map.

Garmin is the only source for the cartridges. They do have a tradein progrma if you decide you want to update your chart...but it's not worth it.
