Default Navionic Hot Maps vs Garmin Fishing Hot Spots

Anyone have any experience with either of these two products. The Garmin web site shows an example of the FHS, no docks or marinas for a lake in my area ( Candlewood Lake, CT ).The Navionics web site shows no sample at all. Do the Navionics version have any better detail? This is a big factor to which GPS I buy a Garmin or something that uses Navionics. ron w

I was under the impression that the Navionics Lake maps WAS Fishing Hotspot Maps and therefore would have exactly the same information as the Garmin maps.

The one difference that I am aware of is that for Garmin, Garmin takes the FHS infor and formats it for their GPS. If you are using Lowrance, the info comes from Navionics.

What diff does it make. As long as your GPS is set to North up, none. If you use track up or course up, it will work with the Garmin. Unless it has changed in the last year or so, it will not work with a Lowrance unit.

FYI, I just talked to a rep from C-Map, she says that C-Map has an agreement with Fishing Hot Spots and the charts will be out sooner or later.ron w

Ron,

Shoot me an e-mail and I can provide you with a couple of screen shots of Candlewood.
