Hello all.I am trying to update the software on my Raymarine C-80 unit. Must I use a San Disk brand of CF card or will any work? I downloaded the update to a Momorex card but the C-80 unit is not picking it up when I insert it. P.S. I reformattedthe card to FAT16 as it said on the Raymarine Site. Any Thoughts?

The Raymarine products are crazy picky about the CF card you use. Even using only Sandisk less than 16m, I still get one that will not work for some reason. I upgraded a unit to v4.25 last week for the first time, and the card that always worked for v3.18 just wouldn't work, but an identical card I usually use for the Eseries updates worked fine.

Boy, awful glad someone else is having a problem with this thing. I was on the verge of buying a new card reader. Gone thrugh two cards and still not getting it to work.
I do this stuff for a living (marine Electronics) and it took me about three hours (format card, download, unzip, copy to card, test-NR, redownload, unzip, clear and relaod card, test-NR, Reformat Card, reload, test-NR, Download, Unzip, reformat card, copy to card, test-NR, get new card, clear and copy, Test- Sucess!)
the first card I used worked fine for all last year with the V3.18 update- must have gone bad in my bag...

I happened to have a PNY 64mb card laying around and have used it three times to update my120 system. I also use it for waypoints and routes. Never had a problem with it.
I used a PNY 1 gb, reformat to 16 fat and boom! 1st shoot.
But I have a question: dynamic currents and tides are only available with platinum card???? Thanks

Nope- put your cursor on a tide or current station, and click (OK), and [animate] should come up as a softkey option
(that's off the top of my head, but it's close...)
I upgraded about 1 year ago to the latest rev at that point, I think it was v3.18. Does anyone know what the changes are for 4.25? I'd rather not go thru the hassel if there's no meat to the upgrade. Thanks.

One thing that is not listed on the Raymarine site is the fact that this upgrade fixes the DSC plotter error. Before 4.25, if you received a DSC position report via a connection to your VHF radio, the radio would receive and transmit the entire position to the plotter. What showed up on the plotter, however, was a position that did not include the MMSI of the sender, and the position had all zeros after the decimal point. This upgrade fixes that problem and adds a bunch of new and neat capabilities.
i guess i'm lucky i just take my boat to westmarine and they do it for me in the parking lot.took all of 5 minutes.may be a problem on the bigger boats though
Finally had to do the same thing with mine, I went through 3 cards and a new reader and still could not get it to work. I'm bracket mounted so I just unplugged the unit and took it to the local West Marine. Did happen to speak with a Raymarine factory rep while there. He said he was not aware of how picky these things were. Told him he should check in on a couple of the boating forums to see what people are saying. Looks like its worth dropping a note to Raymarine.
