KVH Azimuth 1000 or KVH Auto Comp 1000

I have a Garmin 3006 and GMR 40 radome. I would like to add a heading sensor. Either of these looks like it would work although I would have to give up my magnetic compass to go with the Azimuth 1000. The Azimuth 1000 is about $100 less, is it as good?

I had one with my RM AP - if you get it ask for the alum bracket that makes mounting it up off the deck and a bit more water resistant...

I asked the guys at KVH at miami the same question. Although both will do, the Autocomp is better for what you want to do, as it will be mounted away from the cockpit (better from a magnetic sense) and lower to the waterline (better all around from a compass performance standpoint).
