Garmin 492 chart plotter

Hey guys

I own a Garmin chart plotter model 492, this model is preloaded with g2 charts for the entire USA, here’s the question:

Is there a way for me look at my preloaded g2 charts using my laptop at home? I know I can get a cable that will connect both the plotter and my computer; I just wonder if I need additional software.

Nope. Only way to do this is to have the charts on a CD. And the G2 charts don't come on CD.

What a bummer!

Sounds like if I want to pre plot my trip I have to buy a CD with the bluechip and save it on the plotter, it would be nice to have 3D views of some of the structure on a very large PC screen...
