Default raymarine e-80 help !

I just had my e80 installed by a pro rigger. When I returned home from work I went to fire it up and I cannot seem to get it out of simulator mode? I will be contacting the installer on monday, but I would like to try to find out what I am doing wrong. I read the manual describing how to intialize the setup, this still did not work. Any ideas??

[Menu] button
Down arrow on 'trackpad' till you highlight "System Setup"
Right arrow on 'trackpad' to select
Down Arrow on 'trackpad' till you higlight 'Simulator'
Right arrow on 'trackpad' to select
Down arrow on 'trackpad' till you highlight "OFF"
[OK] button, then [Cancel] till you are back at the main screen.

Hitting [OK] button is the step that gets missed alot. This is off the top of my head, but it's pretty close if not bang on. Let me know how it goes.

The bull in the china shop approach would be a reset if the above didn't work or you had problems navigating the menu(s). With the unit off, press and hold the left most of the 5 softkeys below the screen, and with that key held down, turn the unit on, the screen will come up with a reset in 3, 2, 1, 0, let go at 0 and you reboot the unit. This also wipes your waypoints, routes, tracks, and any settings out too, but it definitely will get you out of the simulator mode.

I'd be a little worried that a pro didn't turn it on and check it- the units pretty good out of the box, but there is somoe set up and checks that should be done. Did he tell you it was finished?-

I wouldn't call it finished if I hadn't turned it on and made sure it worked...

I recently had a GPS problem as well. check the GPS receiver dome - there is an LED light amber means it is aquiring, green means it has signal lock (if unit still does not have a fix, the problem lies somewhere in the connection between the 2. If flashing erd, it needs to be re-set - not just by powering the unit on and off, but by acutually turning off the power to the sensoe, not always powered by the unit. If no light it is not getting power.

However if this is a new install - get him back there
