I'm sure this has been answered on here before but I can't find it.

If I want to use one of these units and only attach the radar antenna would I need the network expander? It appears as if you could plug one external device directly into the unit. I don't have a need right now for the sounder or XM features I just want the chartplotter with radar.

The newer units have three plugs so the expander may not be required.

Correct, no network expander needed. The radar plugs right into the machine. The sounder also plugs right into the machine.
