Default Help with Electronics package for a new boat

I'm waiting for delivery of a Larson 330 Carbrio express cruiser.

I have to decide upon electonics. Here is what I have come up with, thanks in large part to reading this site.

Raymarine package including RL70CRC 7 inch (can't fit 10" on my dash) RS120 GPS receiver, DSM250 Sounder, The package has a radio I don't need, but the price is still cheaper than buying the rest separatly.

I will add a raymarine 4kw dome and I will need a transducer. I want to do fishing, mostly in the Ches and Delaware bays. Any idea's on a transducer? I heard about one that will be out this month the mounts on an angle in the bottom of the hull?

Now for the problem. Auto pilot. I heard that Simrad was the best, so I called them. It turns out my steering system is not hydraulic. It's Cable with a power steering assist. This really threw the tech support guy at Simrad off balance and he just called me a back with a fix that he said is pretty complicated. The bottom line is we would do either a rotory drive or a linear drive. I really don't understand the difference and he lost me after about 30 seconds. But I got the point, much more complicated and more problematic.

Anyone have any ideas? Is it strange that a new 2004 32 ft express cruiser would not be hydraulically steered?

Any ideas or suggestions with any aspect of the electronics would be much appreciated as I am new to all of this.

Thanks

Joe

GREAT E package, you'll love the RL70crc and 4kw in Overlay mode. Doesn't the DSM250 come with a ducer? I thought it did, could be wrong.

Yes. That seems crazy for that sizze boat?? (but I'm no steering expert).

After you throw away the Raymarine VHF, get yourself an Icom (M402, M502 or M602, it's all good).
